End-of-Year Band & Orchestra FAQ
Review your options with our EZ-Rent program!
As the school year comes to an end, it’s a great time for our rent-to-own customers to review their options, whether you need to drop off your instrument for maintenance or want to swap it for something new.
What do I do with my instrument over the summer?
Please keep your instrument at home! Unless it requires maintenance or you have decided to cancel your contract, checking it in only when necessary ensures you aren't paying for a rental you don't have access to.
Do not leave your instrument at school. You will need to contact your school or band director to obtain the instrument. Keep in mind your auto-payments will continue.
What if my student wants to play a different instrument?
Our rental contract allows for one free "instrument swap,” meaning your contract and current amount of money paid will carry over, although your monthly rate will change.
Additional swaps are not covered by your contract, and instead a new 36-month contract will begin. Your previous contract payments will not transfer.
What if my student is no longer interested in band?
You may return your instrument and cancel your monthly payments at any time. Prior payments will not be refunded.
If there is any uncertainty regarding cancellation or swapping instruments, we highly encourage you to keep your current contract active as long as possible. Maintaining an active contract means we can transfer what you’ve already paid, so long as you have not already swapped your instrument for free. Starting a new agreement later will not count towards the new instrument.

Annual Maintenance
To ensure your instrument is ready before the back-to-school rush, it’s important to check your instrument in for repairs as soon as possible.
Your contract includes a once-per-year deep chemical cleaning on brass instruments, and a yearly “play-condition” checkup on all other instruments.
Services include general cleaning, adjustments, pad replacement, and any other needs that may arise from proper use and normal wear of the instrument; whatever is necessary to keep your instrument in good condition!
However, our maintenance fee does not cover damage from mishandling or improper use of the instrument. Missing or damaged parts will be your responsibility, including any labor fees associated with them.
What if the violin/cello/viola is too small for my student now?
If your violin or cello, for example, is no longer the right size for your growing student you may swap the instrument for a larger size of the same instrument and grade. This will not be considered an “instrument swap.”
Stop by one of our locations to get your student sized!
Can I pay off my contract early?
Yes! You may pay off your contract early for 10-20% off your remaining balance! This is a great way to save time and money on monthly maintenance fees.
